Reuse of Reclaimed Wastewater

Increased development and population in a region leads to increased water supply needs which cannot necessarily be satisfied by existing water resources. These increasing demands can result in increased use of reclaimed domestic wastewaters as supplemental water supplies for shrubbery irrigation and groundwater recharge, and as a domestic water supply source. Drs. Lee and Jones-Lee have developed several publications that discuss potential water quality and public health problems that can occur as a result of residual pathogenic organisms and chemical constituents in treated "reclaimed" domestic wastewaters.
