FREE COMMUNITY FORUM

October 28, 1997 City Council Chambers
23 Russell Blvd. 7PM

 Speakers:

Dr. William H. Taylor, Dept. of Health & Human Services "Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry's Fish Study of Putah Creek and Follow-up Study." "Mercury and lead concentrations in some fish collected from Putah Creek pose a public health hazard." "....Post a general fish advisory for areas of Putah Creek near the former LEHR site, elevated concentrations of mercury and lead in the collected fish justify the advisory."

Dr. G. Fred Lee DSCOSC's Technical Advisor "Overview of Current LEHR Superfund Site Investigation and Remediation: The Public's Perspective." "....UCD L. Vanderhoef administration is continuing to provide inadequate, unreliable information on the potential threat that the LEHR site represents to public health, the environment and the interests of the people in the vicinity of the site, as well as the progress being made towards eliminating this threat."

Duncan Austin, Dept of Toxic Substance Control "Remedial Project Managers Perspective of the LEHR Superfund Site." "...it is understood that the GET system (UCD's Interim Remedial Action for its off-site Chloroform plume) will not address contaminated groundwater which has already traveled beyond the extraction well nor other non-volatile pollutants under the site. Activities leading to the selection and implementation of a final groundwater remedy will continue."
